Certificates
Frequently Asked Questions
Why would The Bank's certificate "fail to verify for all of its intended purposes"?
The problem is with the user interface only and does not affect the security of your connection. If you
click the ‘Certificate Path’ tab (in the same dialogue box), you will see ‘This
certificate is OK’ in the ‘Certificate Status’ box.
For more information, see the Microsoft
site.
What does it mean if a "site certificate has expired or is not yet valid"?
A certificate authority issues a certificate for a specific period (usually 12 months). If your
computer’s ‘date’ is incorrect and you click on the padlock icon in Internet Explorer,
the dialogue box that appears may contain the above message.
Check the date setting of your computer by double-clicking the date / time in the bottom right hand corner
of your screen or by going to your Windows Control Panel. Once you have corrected the date on your
computer this message will not appear.
